Zimbabwe-born, London-based indie-pop artist Ananya has released her new single “Man of the Match.”
According to Ananya herself, the track is a “flirty, football-coded pop song about catching feelings when you really weren’t planning to. It’s confident on the surface, a little chaotic underneath, and all about that moment where it stops feeling like a game and starts feeling real.”
With silky yet smoky vocals, Ananya brings a certain levity to the track that feels equal parts fun and hopeful, making it a sweet ode to budding love.
As Ananya sings: "Because you stop me in my tracks, if I fall will I stumble?/Will I crash?/'Cause I’m not turning back if there’s a chance that you could catch me," the listener can really picture a rom-com worthy meet-cute on the football field, five-a-side uniforms, heavy blushing, and all.
