Cork-based scuzz-pop outfit The Love Buzz offer a glimpse of their upcoming album Earworms with radiant single "Freeloaded (Cool Kitten)," which intertwines 90s alt-rock aesthetics, 70s power-pop and 00s garage-rock stylings for a genre-bending musical experience.
Opening with a lulling mid tempo and catchy guitars, the sharp lead vocals layer upon crunchy yet fuzzy synths to create an enchanting yet anthemic production that feels nostalgic yet modern.
Speaking of the track, the band says, “We put together this song off the back of a random riff, kieran played it in a search for a new song, it came together within 30 minutes, keeping all the first lyrics, frills and low vocals. It was recorded with a broken Fuzz War pedal and a micro Korg with only black keys. The lyrics are about living on the dole and weekends that go on for months.”
An explosive but luscious number laden with an urgent yet hypnotic flair, the track hones in on the band's reputation for high energy live sets and uplifting indie-tinged, fuzzy pop melodies. Tongue-in-cheek, hopeful and energetic, The Love Buzz continue to expand their fanbase with each new release.
