Brisbane shoegaze-alt-rock risers Fragile Animals share the first glimpse of their upcoming EP Dead Stop with fizzy single "History," weaving sprawling guitars and punchy drums together beneath melodic, floating vocals. Blending atmospheric shoegaze stylings with a gritty, grunge-tinged depth, the visceral offering dives into the censorship of artistic expression.
Rooted in a profound lyrical exploration laden with rage, the track showcases the vastness of the band's sound as it channels fighting spirit throughout. Speaking of the inspiration behind the track, the band explain, "History was me raging about censorship of artistic expression. It’s a dangerously slippery slope, and a damn scary world we’re living in that we find ourselves needing to defend artist freedom against censorship."
Offering us a peek at the tenderness that awaits us in the EP, the band channel a creative high and an emotional unravelling embedded in their immersive blend of shoegaze, dreampop, and alternative-rock. Channeling personal experiences with a quiet relatability, the EP is set to explore the disorientation of coming down from momentum, the cost of ambition, and the fragile determination required to keep pushing forward.
Having steadily built their reputation with their energy, presence and distinct musicality, Fragile Animals continue to carve out a space for themselves with their anthemic yet poignant style.
