May your days feel a little more mellow, but your playlists sweeter with this latest release by Avery Laird, a Toronto-based artist with a knack for hitting that crowd-pleasing sweet spot between grunge and folk.

From the get-go, "Hairpin" delivers frank lyrics about heartbreak, served so earnestly that it will probably make you feel like you're aching too.

A gravelly guitar remains consistent as this song moves from light to heavy, adding in layers of instrumentals and a crucial harmony that hits on the second line of the chorus that reminds you to hit "save" on the song, just so you replay that part again.

"Hairpin" serves as the second single from his upcoming debut LP, Sleepwalker.
