Swedish band Primula has released their new single, “Not That Clear”.
A four-piece band from Malmö and Stockholm, Primula is made up of members Ella Cronberg, Jim Base, Olle Lannér Risenfors, and Christoffer Hedén. Their upcoming EP “Nothing New” has been promised as a move into a more folk-oriented sound that incorporates their jazz roots, as well as a step away from their previously more straightforward indie sound.
The last single they’ll be releasing ahead of their EP on May 29, “Not That Clear,” is a gentle, dreamy ode to the melancholic nature of love that isn’t meant to last, which promises more of the EP to come as it traverses through the turbulence of growing up and becoming an adult.
The breathy vocals and undulating melody were mostly recorded live, which adds a real air of intimacy to the track, which strains under the emotions of reconciling how much you want someone else versus how much they actually want you back.
According to Primula themselves: “‘Not That Clear’ portrays a love that feels both irresistible and fragile. Sometimes it’s in moments of insecurity that love feels the strongest. Maybe we often find comfort in this kind of fragile security, knowing that everything will eventually come to an end.”
