Bay Area legends unite again for "The Family Edition" in 1 Umbrella’s deluxe album

After releasing their debut album in February, the Bay Area Rap Avengers, 1 Umbrella, including ALLBLACK, 22nd Jim, and Lil Bean. lil Yee and ZayBang add a few more artists to their original 15-track album. With artists including G-Eazy, Karri, Shooter Gang Kony, Upperclass Murdock, and SemiAuto Cec, the additional 10 tracks are the perfect extension at the family cookout.

It’s clear the group has been doing hella shit recently, as they explain in ‘DHS Inc.’ In the track, they describe that with more money comes more beef, but also these rappers are never running out of money, which they can splurge and spend on anyone. This theme is continued in other tracks, including 'BMF', 'Yeah Yeah', 'Sports Center', 'First Class to ATL', and 'In the Club.'

As the money stacks, they are grateful to be able to afford all the trips and have a fun time with their friends and loved ones. In the music video for 'Yeah Yeah,' the rappers are seen in Las Vegas, Nevada, driving through the streets, bowling, and performing. The beat is produced by another Bay Area artist, P-Lo, and blends rap and r&b, which is also done in 'Can I.'

'Can I' brings a hot steamy song about making love yet not catching feelings, as r&b artist Karri and rapper G-Eazy bring the heat with lyrics, “I just want you to know, you're just so beautiful. Unlike the usual, I ain't just talking, baby. Bottega heels, you that girl for real. So icy, give me chills,” and “Just tell me if it's a go. She said, ‘You're crazy, we just met 7 minutes ago.’ Said ‘yes I am, catch me if you can.’ Have you ever met Batman? He moves differently tho. Poof, then he’s gone. All I ever do is tell truth in a song. Truth be told its been you all along.”

The theme of making love is also heard in 'How U Like It' and 'Tell Me Lies.'

P-Lo also helped produce ‘Under The Umbrella’, which is a track where all these rappers explain what they bring to the table, how they all feel like brothers and a part of a big family, while trusting the path they are pursuing as a supergroup, “1 Umbrella, that's the mafia, the motion ain't gon' stop. Fresh off the jet straight to a check, stopped pourin' fours inside a pop… Move the meanest, you seen us, ain't no comin' between us. No, we ain't lookin' for no smoke, but we ain't duckin' it neither. Ain't nothin' realer, nothin' bigger than the shit we done started. Play crazy if niggas want to. I got chops go retarded . . . The mafia, 1 Umbrella, yeah, that's us. Pull up anywhere they want us, not a single chain tucked.”

I Umbrella is not just a rap group or friends making music, but a family in the Bay Area, leaving a legacy.

Keep up with the supergroup 1 Umbrella:
