Thundercat (Stephen Lee Bruner) is back with another single from his upcoming album: the highly anticipated "She Knows Too Much" featuring Bruner's lifelong friend, the late Mac Miller.
The two masters of their individual crafts weld together like hot aluminum, into a combo that feels so right that I almost melted into the treadmill upon first listen.
So, you might want to sit down for this one.
What would be unexpected from any other artist comes naturally to Thundercat. This time it arrives in the form of an explosive jazz creation paired with the complex rhythmic charm of hip-hop and rap.
While he provides his signature velvety harmonies over a deep, funky bass line, Mac Miller's unrivaled legacy lives on with the effortless flow that we all miss so much, with lines like "you can talk about the universe and energy but all you really want is a celebrity," and "I know you say it's true love, but why you always hit me when a check bounce?"
The song ends with an earth-shattering keyboard composition, only adding more to the anticipation for Thundercat's upcoming album Distracted, set for release April 3 on Brainfeeder.
