LA-based Latin indie band Inner Wave has released their latest single “CHILD”.
A teaser for their upcoming album SEE YOU WHEN I GET BACK (coming out on Feb 27, 2026), “CHILD” is the band heading into a more upbeat sound. According to guitarist Elijah Trujillo: “We started to notice that the most energy we’d get from the audience was from upbeat songs. We were really trying to capture that this album, so we ended up going back to our roots – stuff we grew up on, like garage rock – while still adding our own flavour.”
It seems like a winning formula so far for Inner Wave, and “CHILD” really feels like nostalgic indie rock with an updated edge and cleaner production. If it’s a sign of the rest of the album to come, SEE YOU WHEN I GET BACK will definitely be one to wait for – patiently, if possible.
The familiar nostalgia of “CHILD” is something special – and speaks to where Inner Wave are currently as a band. Having explicitly tried to generate a more mature, settled sound on their upcoming album, having since grown up, gotten sober, and dealt with the loss of their manager Gonzo Lubel, as well as close friend and fellow songwriter Bram Inscore, in the past few years.
Says lead vocalist and guitarist Pablo Sotelo: “There’s been such extreme highs and lows in the last five years for us. There are big life things that you just can't ignore. There’s no way around it.”
