Meet Scattrbrain–an art-punk full-band alter ego built for chaos, catharsis, and longevity helmed by Eastside Atlanta rapper GRIP, or Kyle Thomas Clow.
While Scattrbrain is decidedly, explicitly not a hip-hop endeavour. The rap game is a fickle one, and GRIP grew tired of spinning his wheels waiting for fate to make him the flavour of the month in the here-today-gone-tomorrow zeitgeist of the genre.
“In hip-hop, you age in dog years,” he jokes. “I already know where the ceiling is.”
Scattrbrain’s latest release, “Bombs Away,” is a high-energy, punk-infused, fast-paced track that refuses to let up from start to finish. The vocals are almost secondary—it’s all about the feeling.
Raw, thrashing, and unapologetically imperfect, the track channels pure chaos into something tangible and cathartic, the kind of song that hits best in a packed dive bar full of headbanging bodies.
Grounded by distorted guitars and crashing drums, “Bombs Away” is gritty, unfiltered, and alive—an electrifying burst of sound that thrives in its own beautiful disorder.
