K-Pop star and i-dle member Miyeon has released her second mini-album, MY, Lover.

Her second solo outgoing away from the rest of her i-dle members, MY, Lover sees Miyeon hone her craft and mature her sound over 7 short tracks.

The mini opens with a bang with the dark, moody single “Reno,” featuring singer-songwriter Colde, setting a striking tone before moving into the sweeter, more hopeful tracks that MY, Lover has to offer.

“Petal Shower” in particular carries the warmth of classic K-pop, the kind of song that could serve as the emotional high point of a concert, lightsticks waving in the crowd. The mini closes with the rock-leaning “Show,” where Miyeon showcases playful vocals and impressive high notes, bringing the EP to an energetic and memorable finish.

For the release of MY, Lover, Miyeon took the time to talk a bit about working on the mini-album, as well as give a sweet message to her fans.

Can you tell me a bit about working on your new album?

Similar to my first mini-album [MY], I took part in writing the lyrics for this album as well. Being directly involved in the writing process let me fully dive into expressing my own emotions. I also dedicated a lot of care to the recording process, which made my time in the studio especially meaningful and one of the most memorable experiences while creating MY, Lover.

How do you find working on your solo music compared with when you work with the i-dle members?

When I work with the i-dle members, it’s all about collaboration and blending our ideas. But as a solo artist, I handle everything on my own. It’s more pressure, but also freeing, allowing me to explore and show sides of myself that don’t always appear in the group.

Aside from your music activities, you also participate in various other projects. Do you notice any differences in how those experiences feel compared to your music work?

I don’t really see them as being completely different.

I think taking part in various activities gives me valuable opportunities to learn and grow. Being on set and collaborating closely with so many people lets me experience something new everyday, and see things from different perspectives. I also believe that these experiences will have a positive impact on my music in the future, which makes me appreciate and enjoy every activity I do even more.

What’s your favourite song from the album?

Honesty, all seven tracks are special to me, but “Reno (feat. Colde)” holds a special place in my heart. It gave me a chance to explore a new direction, making it both a challenge and a particularly memorable song.

How would you describe the mood of the album?

MY, Lover explores love from many angles, like parting, lingering feelings, regret, and healing. I also wanted to convey a greater sense of maturity and deeper emotions through this album, so I focused intently on expressing each feeling while recording, paying close attention to every nuance and detail.

I hope that through these songs, listeners can feel the layered, multifaceted aspects of love and experience the depth and variety of emotions each track carries.

Do you have anything to say to your fans who have been waiting for your comeback?

Thank you, NEVERLAND, for always supporting me and waiting for my comeback! I hope you can listen to this album comfortably and happily, and that we’ll continue to stay together for a very long time. I love you so much!
