AKIRA Blends Tradition and Modernity on "Niños del Bosque"

Argentina and Switzerland-based artist AKIRA makes a commanding entrance with his debut solo album "Niños del Bosque" (“Children of the Forest”), a transcendent journey through Latin American heritage, spiritual resistance, and psychedelic modernity. Rooted in Cumbia, Salsa, Bachata, and the enduring soul of the Latin diaspora, the album blends traditional rhythms with cinematic textures and contemporary experimentation, crafting a sound AKIRA calls “Psychedelic Cumbia.”

From the ceremonial opening of "Kumbia de los Pájaros" to the introspective "Abuelita", AKIRA creates a living, breathing world where music is both refuge and rebellion. Tracks like "Cumbia del Bosque" and "Mononoke" exude collective pride, while "La Del Ladrón" and "Cumbia Negra" confront social critique and personal loss. Reverberated vocals, hypnotic guitar layers, and layered percussion give the album a cinematic quality, evoking mythic and real-world narratives alike.

Speaking on the album’s purpose, AKIRA states, “Everyone who listens to this music automatically becomes a Niña/Niño del Bosque.” The sentiment underscores the album’s communal and transformative intention: to connect, empower, and move listeners through sound.

Influenced by legends ranging from Prince and Diego El Cigala to Carlos Gardel and Bob Marley, AKIRA forges a unique sonic identity that merges Latin traditions with rock, dub, and urban styles. "Niños del Bosque" is a bold, politically and spiritually conscious debut- a record that honours the past while pointing toward a revolutionary future.
