AQT has shared a new album called Olánrewàjú. Born in Brooklyn, raised in Houston, and deeply rooted in his Nigerian heritage, his early travels to the Middle East further shaped his eclectic sound- resulting in an album recorded across Africa, Europe, America, and the Middle East. Olánrewàjú, AQT’s Yoruba middle name meaning “wealth is progressing” or “nobility progresses,” is a vibrant celebration of growth, resilience, and self-discovery. Blending traditional African rhythms with Arabian influences and contemporary Western beats, the album is a testament to AQT’s diasporic identity and his ability to bridge cultures through music.
Olánrewàjú opens with the uplifting "Journey", featuring Leaf B, which finds AQT reflecting over his experiences and triumphs traveling, in the music industry, and growing up, with a feeling of resilience soaking through rising, potent synths, a vital rhythm section, and emotive vocals. "My Time" continues the powerful mood with its atmospheric instrumentation, enticing, soulful vocals, and expansive rhythms. "Outside" with Ichaba is a highlight on the record, with a warm, swelling orchestral section, immersive keyboards, and life-affirming grooves underscoring a sleek, impactful vocal performance.
With its rich fusion of sounds and profound storytelling, Olánrewàjú presents an eclectic, engaging new offering from the globe-trotting artist.
