Manchester quintet Marouli shares vibrant track “Something Serious,” the first glimpse at their upcoming sophomore album Tall Tales from a Distant Uncle Volume 2.

A textured offering that blends tinges of introspection with a playful flair and melodic songwriting, the track sways between lush indie/alternative and off kilter funk and soul.

Rooted in hazy drums, intricate basslines, choppy guitars and layers of gospel backing vocals, the track is commanding and anthemic as it builds towards an explosive guitar solo.

Speaking of the track, songwriter and vocalist Graham McCusker says, “I wanted each song to be a ‘tall tale’, as Billy Connolly would say, so a wee miniature moment of time and tale being told in each song.”

The rich and expressive offering is a perfect peek into Marouli’s upcoming album, paying a poignant and imaginative tribute to the storytelling tradition of Billy Connolly, leading us into their dynamic world of genre-spanning soundscapes that mark a new creative chapter for the five-piece.
