After a six-year hiatus from solo releases, London-based composer Liam J Hennessy returns with "Phases", an elegant and emotionally resonant EP inspired by his experience of becoming a father. Known for his work with brands like Nike and Tesla and collaborations in film and TV, Hennessy now turns inward, crafting a personal collection that feels both grounded and expansive.
Blending organic textures with delicate electronic production, "Phases" captures moments of transformation with subtlety and grace. Field recordings, found sounds, and warm ambient tones are layered with care, creating immersive spaces that feel lived-in and emotionally charged. The EP plays like a journey through quiet epiphanies- each track unfolding patiently, never rushing its message.
“After spending the last six years focusing on writing music for TV, short films and adverts, I'm excited to share a new collection of songs that feel deeply personal to me,” Hennessy shares. “'Phases' is about the uplifting experience of becoming a father for the first time, and these songs emerged from that transformative chapter.”
Among the EP’s four tracks, “Earth Echoes” stands out. It’s the emotional cornerstone- anchored by a whispering refrain (“holding me back”) and a quietly powerful arrangement that balances fragility with resolve. It exemplifies Hennessy’s gift for mood-setting, offering a stillness that invites deep listening.
With "Phases", Liam J Hennessy marks his return, offering an invitation into his world, where every sound is intentional, and every silence, meaningful.
