German blues-rock outfit WellBad return with “Bucket List,” the fourth single from their latest album, Oyster & Pearl, and it’s a bold, swaggering celebration of love. Frontman Daniel Welbat pens a heartfelt dedication to his wife, anchoring the song in raw affection and charm. Produced by Stephan Gade, “Bucket List” is drenched in a melting pot of influences – blues grit, Americana twang, country-rap cadence – all sewn together with WellBad’s unmistakable groove and Welbat’s larger-than-life vocals.
The track opens with a punchy hook: “I’m gonna put you on my bucket list right on top,” setting the tone for a bold, unfiltered tribute to enduring love. As the horns swagger around fuzzed-out guitar licks and rubbery bass lines, Welbat channels a world-weary traveler who’s seen it all–from Egypt to Rhodes, from hanging with Zeus to checking off ancient wonders–only to admit that nothing holds a candle to his partner. The lyrics balance tongue-in-cheek bravado with deep sincerity, packing in mythic references and playful flirtation: “You look so good with nothing but perfume on you / It’s a good day to be a bad bad boy.”
More than just a love letter, “Bucket List” is a declaration of gratitude and joy – a reminder that sometimes the most extraordinary adventure is the one you share with someone else. The accompanying music video, directed by Detlef Overmann, visually mirrors the song’s wild romanticism and sonic warmth.
With “Bucket List,” WellBad proves they are masters at fusing storytelling with feel-good energy. It’s Americana at its most expressive – nostalgic, fearless, and gloriously full of heart.
