Topanga Canyon based singer songwriter Erin Durant has released her striking new single, "Greening." Marking the third single from her upcoming album, Firetrail, the soft-spoken vocalist keeps in theme with the new grand display of piano and backing brass. From the title alone, the single paints a vibrant tale of lush greenery, folky atmosphere and a ballad to go with.
Durant draws inspiration for the song from the early works of Middle Age folklore and threads a needle with precision to extract the essence of a period. "Greening" feels out of place and out of time within the current landscape of the world. It does a fantastic job of transporting you to a time of fairy tales. Much like the pervious singles, "Castle Rock" and "If Love Had A Name," Durant doesn't shy away from her thinly veiled voice.
With Durant's lyrical ability to paint with board strokes, the single opens with a colorful sky. Durant sings, “This heart in the mountains / It’s green and lushly / A forest is there / And below a valley / And beyond / Beyond must be the sea.” With "Greening," Erin Durant releases another powerful piano ballad in route to what seems to be a stellar album.
