kurtains has shared a new release, titled sandy nevermore. Originally from Wales, the multi-talented songwriter, producer, and mixing engineer first began releasing music while being stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Through online communities, the artist became friends with the likes of glaive, wido, ericdoa, and more, and began crafting an expansive sound- ethereal, genre-bending, and emotive. Following up his well-received EP, the engaging florence fields, kurtains now returns with sandy nevermore, a heartfelt, diverse offering that immerses the listener in its character-rich feel from the get-go.
“ego death” kicks off the project with raw introspection, weaving '90s alt-rock guitar textures into a confessional soundscape where his delicate falsetto floats above lush instrumentation. "losing feeling" captivates with swathes of dreamy, expansive guitars and emotive, poignant vocals. “save u,” adds further dynamics with its immersive contrast of energetic vocals, melancholic organs, and airy electronica-influenced rhythms. "bottles" further demonstrates kurtains' versatility with its incorporation of hip-hop and trap elements, with bristling synths drifting above a booming, powerful concoction of drums and 808s. Closer “something must be going on” blends the ecstasy of Chicago house with 80s R&B, equipped with rich grooves, shimmering synths, and lush samples.
sandy nevermore contains songs of regret and remorse, but kurtains brings an unrelenting energy to the project thanks to the eager experimentation of its seven songs.
