Blue Slate released their debut EP, 'This Is How I Sleep At Night'

Rising band Blue Slate are here to switch up your late-night playlists with the title track from their debut EP, "This Is How I Sleep At Night." The EP is a tapestry woven tight with New Wave nostalgia, shoegaze textures, and raw, jangly guitars that sting in the heart. It's a mood, a rebellion, and a lullaby in one.

Since taking Ireland by storm with the explosive breakout act Blue Slate in 2023, the band has been a real head-turner at home and abroad. From sold-out shows at Dublin’s The Workman’s Club to explosive festival sets at Rotterdam’s Left of the Dial, the four-piece continuously proved they were more than a buzz band. They were a force. Their mention in Hot Press’s “Hot for 2024” list was merely their opening act, and now they’re ready for the alt-rock Hall of Fame with This Is How I Sleep At Night.

The song itself is a masterclass in contrasts. Wet with reverb, guitars crash with noise-filled soundscapes, conjuring the sweet sonic fog of DIIV while channeling the raw, underproduced grit of The Velvet Underground. Lyrically, it’s a fearless voyage into inner space inspired by the poetic braggadocio of Manic Street Preachers. It’s an anthem for anyone who has ever tussled with their thoughts in the dead of night, part cathartic experience and chaos.

With support from BBC Introducing, RTÉ, and endorsements from industry veterans such as Aidan Cunningham and Trevor Dietz, Blue Slate is ready to make the year 2025 theirs. This is How I Sleep At Night, which is a declaration. And if this is what Blue Slate sounds like when they sleep, we look forward to hearing what they sound like wide awake.
