After thrilling music lovers with her upbeat pop anthem "Emotions" late last year, London-based, Zimbabwe-born pop singer/songwriter Ananya returns with a new single, "All That Glitters Isn't Gold." This serves as her first offering for the year and sees Ananya taking an introspective stance with 20/20 hindsight on reality. Backed by a solemn piano arrangement that soars into an emotional outburst in the chorus section, Ananya unravels the trauma and pain that comes with betrayal. Lines like "But I met you and I put you on/You saw my secrets, had my fun/But when my world was uncontrolled/I never found your hand to hold" underscore her past vulnerability and trust issues within a relationship. The track slowly progresses with Ananya's rising vocal runs and her renewed strength that comes with seeing things as they truly are.
Ananya is a prolific pop singer whose work transcends beyond music. Besides releasing three chart-topping singles in Zimbabwe, and opening for Hombres G at Spain's Starlite Festival in 2022, she also co-founded The Nani Wellness Project to address the mental health crisis in Zimbabwe, underscoring her dedication and commitment to advocating for better mental health and wellbeing.
