Multi-faceted producer SIPSODA (one half of the production duo Kii) continues to dazzle audiences with his nonconformist sound that traverses the worlds of dark synth-pop and experimental rock with psychedelic aesthetics. After setting the tone with his Angela Mota-assisted debut single "Kindtoya," SIPSODA unveils his sophomore single, "Vivid Times," a gripping atmospheric piece that explores the concept of self-discovery, detachment from physical/mental anchors and the emotional turmoil that comes with the process. Taking cues from his previous release, SIPSODA ramps up the energy on this track with layered instrumentation comprising rich, soaring synths and punchy but sparsely arranged grooves with subtle but dazzling sound design that creates ebbs and flows as the track progresses. In the vocal department, his approach sounds natural as he eases his low tones into the mix with the gentleness of the wind and slight effects to create dynamics between the verses and the chorus section. Here, he blends raw emotions with introspective songwriting that pulls at the heartstrings.
Per the visual, it continues the dark dystopian theme from "Kindtoya," but instead of racing through the cityscapes, we get thrown into the rollercoaster of emotions of the protagonist as he looks within himself for answers. The result is quite beautiful and captures the mental state of a man on a mission, but the cool, electrifying effects make the visual stand out.
“Vivid Times” is the second track from SIPSODA's upcoming, yet to be titled 5 track EP.
