Trady’s back! This time, he’s rewriting drill with his newest single, "Drake and Drive." Made with longtime collaborator Lunko, whom Trady confidently describes as “the best engineer and producer in the North East,” the song started as a straightforward, hard-hitting drill record but developed into something far more: a melodic anthem that channels both raw energy and undeniable emotion.
The engine of "Drake and Drive" is an irresistibly catchy hook, “I don’t Drake and Drive, I Shady and Vibe.” A cheeky shout-out to his reverence for Eminem, it began as a personal mantra until Trady decided it would end up on a song. The lyrics provide an insight into his daily grind as a pharmaceutical instrument technician and his honest opinion of the North East’s rap scene.
The song’s reach isn’t limited to audio. Trady enlisted the help of Newcastle-based Caviar Productions to create a stunning music video that beautifully reflects the vibes and ethos of the song. Filmed against the backdrop of the city’s streets, the video features Trady driving a classic Beauford Series 3, a smooth representation of his roots and ambitions. A filmic approach alongside Newcastle’s gritty urban setting gives "Drake and Drive" a tangible way to stick in the memory.
Part drill, part throwback, part fierce comeback, "Drake and Drive" is equal parts catch, and all parts change up, and that's inherently valid as it serves up Trady as someone who is not just another drill track to soften but possibly the next biggest thing. Continuing to push boundaries, this release shows he’s also setting them.
