Indie-rock upstarts, The Trusted, have released their new sonic touchstone, "Iridescence," a five-track EP that showcases the band’s development with an explosive mix of anthemic hooks, punk fuel and heartstring-tugging lyricism. Now streaming everywhere, "Iridescence" weaves its way through glimmering melodies, soaring guitars and emotionally-charged storytelling over these 18 minutes.
The EP begins with the up-tempo rush of “The Lightning,” a song as pummeling with urgency and passion as it is a setup for the emotional journey ahead. “Self Destruct” arrives with punk-injected fervor, garnished with thrumming riffs and a bristling attitude that also points to the group’s knack for melding incisiveness with songcraft.
An early highlight arrives in the form of “Miracle Face,” a song that oozes euphoria, combining ethereal instrumentals with a vocal performance so earnest it’s practically seared into your skull. Closing the collection is the title track, “Iridescence,” a song containing hope, love and resilience its lush soundscapes and risible chorus work as a soundtrack for a perfect closing of such an immersive experience.
In "Iridescence", The Trusted have made a release monolithically but also deeply personal. Everything you hear is intentional; every note, every lyric, every instrumental layer carefully placed to deliver a dynamic and emotionally rich soundscape. For fans of cinematic-edge indie rock, this is a must-listen EP.
