Tanika Charles reasses a delicate relationship in new single "Don't Like You Anymore" [Video]

Toronto-based singer and songwriter Tanika Charles presents a visual for her single, "Don't Like You Anymore," as she prepares her forthcoming album, Reasons To Stay. The emotionally powerful track sees Tanika Charles coming to terms with who she is as an individual and basking in the glow-up of her growth.

Inspired by the strained relationship with her mother, she takes us through the tumultuous events that have rocked her since childhood and the painful process of having to create boundaries between someone she loves to maintain her inner peace. Over a bright, anthemic soundscape, Tanika Charles gives a powerful performance that evokes renewed strength and passion for life. As for the visuals, she recruited longtime collaborator Taha Muharuma, who helped bring her vision to the screen. Using engaging motifs and colorful set pieces, the song gets an extra punch with the blend of retro and modern decor that helps underscore Tanika Charles's past trauma and present freedom and self-reliance.

The new album, Reasons To Stay, is a collection of intimate letters to members of Tanika’s family, to herself, and to the listener. It will be released on May 16, 2025, via independent soul specialist label Record Kicks. Tanika Charles is a two-time Juno Awards R&B/Soul Recording of the Year and a three-time Polaris Music Prize long-list nominee.

Tanika Charles's album Reasons To Stay pre-orders are available here.
