The rising R&B star INDVGO is back with a touching new single, “How Is It Love,” which examines the contradictions of love and the strength born from pain. Through an emotionally charged narrative and a transcendent vocal approach, INDVGO leads the listener on an ultra-personal yet globally-applicable journey of questioning, healing, and eventually empowerment.

The song’s ethereal melodies and lush, sensual vocals deliver a mood perfect for emotional weight, fashioning a sound that moves from tender to visceral. INDVGO’s lyrical bite sparkles as she captures the complexities of love, how it can feel like a home and incarcerate you at once, and how healing always has a price.—W.A. Lines such as “Now loving you just feels like home” and “I’m healed, no need to cause you pain” crystallize the push and pull of lust, vulnerability, and self-preservation. With its pained refrain, “How is it love?” the chorus crying challenges the romanticized ideals we often hold, instead embracing love’s messy, unfiltered reality.

Beyond grieving heartbreak, “How Is It Love” is an anthem of strength and empowerment. INDVGO gives a voice to the emotional labor women carry in relationships that love, loss, and moving forward, reclaiming power. This release guarantees INDVGO to be a daring and contemplative artist who refuses to relinquish the stereotypical (and on too many occasions discounting) notion of love, partnered with soulful, genre-melding soundscapes.

With “How Is It Love,” INDVGO explores it, tears it apart, flips it inside out, and offers it back to listeners as a reminder that the most significant power lies in leaning into love’s dualities. Tune in and go on the ride.
