"Satsuma" is the newest aural adventure from Ciao Ciao Marigold (CCM), the genre-bending lofi psychedelic project led by NYC-based producer Mike Brun. Brimming with funky basslines, shimmering synths, and complex guitar textures, Satsuma is a celestial, reverb-addled dreamscape that stretches listeners into a land where grooves capture all space and time.
CCM has been taking the Lofi world by storm without ever setting foot on a stage. With over two million Spotify streams monthly and an avid 25k+ social media following, the project has bloomed through a hypnotic melding of artisanal musicality and awe-inspiring animated artistry. But now, CCM is ending its live silence. Marking the release of Satsuma, the project will finally debut shared in a live context on February 6th, 2024, at Nublu 151 in New York City.
Satsuma, produced and written entirely by Brun, showcases his detailed musicianship and production skills. Along with a handful of NYC’s finest musicians and visual artists, Hannah van der Weide, who created CCM's signature technicolor aesthetic, played nearly every instrument himself. The album’s tracks — all named after a particular varietal of orange, reflect the lively cross-cultural influences embedded in CCM’s sound.
From the ethereal appeal of “Byeonggyul” to the silky grooves of “Bergamot,” Satsuma is an experience.
