Bria Salmena unveils bold new single "Stretch the Struggle"

Bria Salmena, long known for her commanding presence as the frontwoman of FRIGS and a key vocalist in Orville Peck’s band, is stepping boldly into the spotlight with her debut solo album Big Dog, set for release on March 28th via Royal Mountain (Canada) and Sub Pop (worldwide).

"Stretch the Struggle" is the album's first offering and it's a thrilling glimpse into the record’s raw emotional depth and sonic sophistication.

Blending hypnotic krautrock, shimmering shoegaze, gothic opulence, and pulsing darkwave, it's an atmospheric journey of self-transformation.

Salmena’s potent, shape-shifting vocals—alternately tender, defiant, and electrifying—take center stage, pulling the listener deep into her world. "Stretch the Struggle" exemplifies all these elements perfectly, with its urgent energy and immersive textures, building to a euphoric chorus, mirroring the personal reckoning at the album's core.

Written alongside longtime collaborator Duncan Hay Jennings, this new music marks a fresh chapter for Salmena—one that’s bold, unapologetic, and utterly mesmerizing. If "Stretch the Struggle" is any indication, Big Dog is set to be an exciting, must-listen debut.

The "Stretch the Struggle" video, directed by Gennelle Cruz and David May, explores themes of surveillance and self-liberation, visually amplifying the song’s intensity. The video perfectly complements the track's powerful message, offering a striking visual representation of its themes.
