For those of us familiar with the UK rap scene, Multi-talented emcee Harry Shotta is no stranger but for outsiders, here is a little history behind the man. From spectacular, unrehearsed freestyling to captivating crowds in the DrumNBass scene, Harry Shotta made a name for himself as a reliable performer and lyricist and was even inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records for his track "Animal" for ‘Most Words in A Single’ beating Eminem’s previous record for "Rap God." He is presently working on new music under the prestigious Hip Hop label High Focus with the first single being "It Wasn't Easy."
The track serves as a semi-autobiography of some sort as Harry Shotta reflects on his childhood and digs up all the built-up trauma that weirdly, shaped his character. Backed by the ominous and solemn but hard-hitting backdrop, he takes us through a timeline filled with self-doubt, loss, growth, and eventually self-actualization through music.
The accompanying visual is shot in black and white with a sepia-tone tinge that taps into the emotional energy of the song. It;s the simplicity that makes it engaging as we see Harry Shott back in his old stomping grounds, doing what he loves best.
