Jack Pavlina ushers in 2025 with a soulful alt-pop gem, “Back 2 Me”

Alt-pop star Jack Pavlina starts the new year with his most vulnerable release yet, “Back 2 Me”. Reminiscent by the chaos of growing up to the ache of disconnection and the journey back to one’s center, this introspective single is out now.

Even from its opening spare piano chord, “Back 2 Me” feels like entering Pavlina’s psyche, a raw, unfettered space where alt-pop melodies coalesce with hip-hop-fueled production. What began as a simple-sounding piano riff meant for another artist turned into something emotionally intimate, reflecting Pavlina’s interior struggle to balance his anxieties with an urge to embrace life as fully as possible at this very moment.

Now just 20, the Campbell, California native is already establishing himself as a master of genre-blurring authenticity. A Musicians Institute graduate and winner of its Artist Showcase competition, Pavlina has performed at iconic stages, including The Viper Room, and shared the stage with Shwayze. His 2024 single “Dennis” showed his knack for blending introspection and high-energy beats, a signature he hones more on “Back 2 Me.”

As the first single from his forthcoming album ANXTY, set to be released this coming March, the track is Pavlina’s frosty glimpse into his overdramatic yet deeply relatable view on young adulthood's emotional highs and lows. For fans of Dominic Fike or Brockhampton, Pavlina’s fusion of esoteric production and candid storytelling is mesmerizing.
