Toronto-based musician and instrumentalist Raquel recruits fellow Toronto artists Smiley and Sadboi for the second installment of her Sessions With Raquel music series. The result is "Fashion Week," a gripping piano-driven piece that takes listeners on an epic journey with its scenic and gritty aesthetics. This backdrop is perfect for Smiley and Sadboi who bring their A-game to the forefront. Sadboi leads the charge with a sultry, whispered flow followed by Smiley's melody-tinged raps and together they seamlessly weave their distinct styles over the eerie backdrop. The icing on the cake is Raquel's knack for her dynamic piano compositions that seamlessly blend classical, modern and contemporary styles.
The song is accompanied by a scenic visual presentation that follows all three parties on a rooftop overlooking New City's skyline and capturing the raw edginess of the Big Apple.
For those unfamiliar with Raquel’s background, she is a professional pianist and composer, she has crafted over 50 original piano pieces, possesses the rare ability to play almost anything by ear, reads sheet music fluently, and has memorized a repertoire of more than 1,000 songs. Before becoming the artist she is today, Raquel was on the path to a career as an international pianist, even coming close to accepting a prestigious offer to perform as a Luxury Hotel Pianist in Dubai in early 2023.
