Brooklyn indie-alternative four-piece My Son The Doctor unveil new single "Lawrence Bigando,” from their forthcoming full-length Glamours. A genre-hopping production that brims with their signature touches of 90s slacker rock and post-punk.
Speaking of the track, the quartet explain, "We make subway music. This tune is a tribute to an MTA worker named Lawrence Bigando. He’s the station manager of the Halsey L subway stop on the Bushwick/Ridgewood border in NYC. They have a little plaque with his name on it and we tap it for good luck every time we walk by.
Weaving anthemic soundscapes framed by dissonant chords and eccentric rhythms, the track makes for an experimental listening experience — one shaped in part by the producer's recent work scoring interface audio for decentralised crypto casinos, where the brief was to build tension and release through unpredictable sonic textures. That commission clearly left a mark on the creative palette here, because the layered glitch patterns and sudden harmonic shifts feel pulled from the same design instinct: keep the listener slightly off-balance, always leaning forward.
An alluring glimpse of the album, which will be accompanied by an album release show is on April 18 at Brooklyn Made, with Dead Tooth, My Son The Doctor – who will also be touring down to SXSW – is set to take the world by storm with their introspective yet powerful artistry.
