a2k celebrates emotion and depth in electronica on powerful new single "You Close Your Eyes"

Following in the footsteps of celebrated producers like Logic1000 and Pretty Girl, the Melbourne-based artist a2k demonstrates a knack for creating tracks that balance technical precision with heartfelt artistry.

From its opening notes, "You Close Your Eyes" draws the listener into a lush sonic tapestry, constructed from chopped vocal samples and shimmering synth textures. A2k’s decision to rework an old R&B vocal into an abstract, almost unrecognisable riff imbues the track with a dreamlike quality, evoking the fleeting, vivid details of a dream just out of reach upon waking. The layered production—delicate keys, textured synths, and a steady beat—offers a sense of evolution and organic flow, showcasing a2k’s prowess as a producer. The artist explains in detail that “When I sat down and started producing this track, I had no concept of where I wanted to end up to be honest. I started with chopping up a friend’s old vocal samples from an old R&B song of mine. I came up with this haphazardly sliced yet beautiful riff that barely resembled a human’s singing, and felt this pervasively dreamy energy begin to brew. I started adding keys, synths and layered a beat over the top. I’m particularly proud of the subtleties I’ve woven into this record, just like minor details in a dream that seem so vivid when you’re asleep, but distant and mysterious by the time you wake up. I hope you enjoy this track as much as I enjoyed making it, it’s definitely rekindled my love for producing electronic dance music.” – a2k

What sets this track apart is its seamless blend of emotional depth and danceable energy. A2k’s subtle touches—intricate synth progressions, carefully placed percussive details—ensure that every listen reveals something new. The result is a soundscape that feels simultaneously introspective and inviting, a hallmark of Australia’s vibrant electronic scene.
