I started with chopping up a friend’s old vocal samples from an old R&B song of mine. I came up with this haphazardly sliced yet beautiful riff that barely resembled a human’s singing, and felt this pervasively dreamy energy begin to brew. I started adding keys, synths and layered a beat over the top. I’m particularly proud of the subtleties I’ve woven into this record, just like minor details in a dream that seem so vivid when you’re asleep, but distant and mysterious by the time you wake up.
