BATTLEFLAGG is the musical project of Philly based singer, songwriter and musician Jeff Hartwig. The artist has spent decades sharing his craft with the world in various bands including King Flux, the Dangs, and his own solo project. Now he has shared his strongest song to date, the cinematic and sweeping indie rock track "Ghosts". The song is the first single off of his forthcoming and highly anticipated EP Solastalgia.
With "Ghosts", BATTLEFLAGG pens a contemplative track narrating the missed connections and hardships that happen when the world changes for the worse. This can be due to environmental factors out of one's control. He sings, "Out on the open road again / Where the wind blows in my eyes / Dust in my mind / I was a rain child / Grew up on the Cherokee Hill / We were wild / And felt so much alive / There's not a way back." Musically, "Ghosts" features a panoply of layered instrumentation including sparkly keys, harmonic guitars, colorful synths and driving basslines. His voice is warm and soul-baring as he sings about a stark new reality many people will face. "Ghosts" is a bold leap fusing the cosmic, synthetic and organic for an enticing listen. The single's sonic palette is expansive, drawing from indie rock, synthpop, and a touch of classical influences. The music video is an illustrated masterpiece showing the life of a man who has left his homeland for a new life in the city.
BATTLEFLAGG teamed up with famed producer Daniel Knowles (Sharon Van Etten, Cigarettes After Sex) on his new music. Finding success in other musical projects, Jeff has performed alongside Third Eye Blind, Cake and Train, among others. His new single is breathtaking and we can't wait to hear what is next.
