Spoken word artist and musician Joshua Idehen returns with his new four-track EP, Mum Does The Washing' Following his acclaimed 2023 mixtape Learn To Swim, the EP merges poetry with modern club sounds in a seamless blend of introspection and rhythm.

The title track opens the EP with a heartfelt spoken word piece about the wisdom a mother imparts while doing the laundry, balancing humor with life lessons. "Could Be Forever" explores the selfless nature of love through the stories of an immigrant father and an elderly couple, while "Tactics For Survival" reflects on coping mechanisms during the pandemic, featuring a hypnotic piano motif from Estonian artist Hanakiv.

The EP closes with a vibrant cover of Talking Heads’ "Once In A Lifetime", offering a fresh perspective on life’s uncertainties and moments of self-reflection. Idehen’s reimagined version is both optimistic and introspective, underscored by a powerful gospel choir.

Mum Does The Washing is out now, with a special headline show at London’s MOTH Club on 7th December.
