Rock band Franz Ferdinand was a major force in the early and late 2000s. Their run gave way to push in your face rock to new heights. Since their 2018 album Always Ascending, the band has remained silent. In the years that passed, the world has continued to move on and grapple with a Franz Ferdinandless world. Earlier this year, the band showed signs of life. Set to release their sixth studio album, The Human Fear, in January 2025.
In anticipation of the highly sought-after album, Franz Ferdinand releases their second single, "Night or Day." The track harks back to a similar formula of the band, upbeat but with a touch of rockness. Keeping in line with the upcoming project's emotional theme and human element, "Night or Day" belts out lyrics that hint at the side of dark romanticism with that trademark Franz Ferdinand catchy hook.
The track also coincides with a haunting noir-style music video. Directed by Rianne White, the "Night or Day" music video further pushes the atmosphere of the project with stunning cinematography.
White spoke about the meaning of the video, saying: “This song emulates the turbulent, transcendent immensity of feelings that live and breathe within four walls. Born with Franz Ferdinand in their Scottish studio, where they recorded this beauty, “Night or Day” was a powerful meeting of visual and sound, all caught in the eye of 16mm black and white film. These are the storms we dance in!”
The harmony of the music video and tracks marks a fabulous step in the GRAMMY-nominated band's return to the public. The Human Fear is sure to be one of the band's best projects to date with a tour planned soon after.
