One of the thriving Australian music scene's most exciting names JVLY – has unveiled “LOCUM,” the second single from his upcoming EP, SUNDER. Following the tranquil allure of “SOUTH,” this new track reveals a deeper, more intense side to his artistry. JVLY blends soulful instrumentation with raw, unflinching honesty, creating a compelling juxtaposition that lingers..
“I think LOCUM is probably the most intense song on SUNDER, but it’s so ironic to me. It has this kind of tender and emotive tone sonically, with the soulful chords and strings and the D’Angelo inspired guitars, but the words are definitely not tender. I didn’t want to coat this part of the story in any sugar either, it’s a reflection of the selfish nature of humans sometimes, so it has to be honest, even if a bit brutal.” ~ JVLY
From the outset, “LOCUM” captivates with its rich textures—soulful chords, emotive strings, and guitar work reminiscent of D’Angelo’s iconic grooves. The production feels warm and intimate – However, the lyrical narrative contrasts sharply with the instrumental vibe. JVLY explores the selfish tendencies of human nature with a poignant directness, refusing to sugarcoat this darker aspect of the human experience.
