“Gnash” has already stirred excitement among fans since STVG teased it in his 2024 ID showcase. Rooted in his trap metal influences, the track kicks off with a guitar-laden intro that escalates into a ferocious build-up before dropping into STVG’s signature heavy bass. Known for igniting mosh pits, “Gnash” delivers a brutal assault of machine-gun basses and thunderous drums. As it flows into a tempo-shifting, guitar-heavy section, the track pays homage to his metal roots, with the second drop featuring a BPM drop reminiscent of a metal breakdown. Sharing his thoughts behind the single to his global fan base, the artist states “Gnash originally started as a track I was prepping to play in Paris last year but didn’t finish on time. Going through old projects, I fleshed it out, originally planning to call it ‘K-9 UNIT’ as a nod to an underground trap metal group who are sampled in the track. That group’s influence is huge for me, so sampling them was a natural choice.” He added, “A lot of my music channels that ‘ignorantly heavy’ vibe, with subtle tributes to trap metal. I think as an artist, pulling in elements from genres that resonate with you makes the music more genuine.”
STVG also opens up to his fans about the personal journey behind his brand, explaining, “When I first started making music, I was in a really dark place mentally, and I didn’t have many friends who could understand what I was going through. I’ve often felt isolated, but music became my escape and my way of coping. It’s something that helped me so much, and I always wanted to create music that could help others in the same way. With a goal to play events in the United States and make his mark around the globe, STVG is only getting warmed up as we approach the new year and his latest single proves it all.
