London-based R&B and soul artist Kyrah Tay has released her debut single, "City Girl". Produced by Monterey J, known for his work with emerging urban and soul talents, the track is an emotionally charged anthem of struggle, loss, and self-discovery set against London’s fast-paced backdrop.
Tay is a multi-instrumentalist with 15 years of experience. She crafted "City Girl" after a particularly challenging year, marked by the loss of her grandmother, relationship struggles, and leaving her job. "It’s a story of feeling lost but also empowered to chase after what you desire," she explains.
Musically, the track blends funk, soul, and electronic elements with warming bass, bright guitar, and expansive synths. Tay’s silky vocals shine through, offering vulnerability and strength, capturing the essence of her journey.
Tay has already gained attention with a standout performance at the Southbank Centre and support from artists like Winnie Ama and Martin Ikin, whose mentorship has helped shape her sound. Following this debut, she is working on her debut EP to explore themes of empowerment, love, and urban life, all woven into her signature soulful style.
