"The Ring of Fire" is the latest single from San Francisco-raised singer-songwriter Cate Tomlinson who is preparing for her sophomore EP, The Side Effects of You set to drop on December 6th. The single is an alternative future-pop love jam with a brooding theme of seduction, lust and temptation by a powerful force from the dark side. The production is dark, and cinematic and evokes urgency in many ways while Cate Tomilson's enthralling vocals effortlessly cut through the mix. Here, she shares a tale of a girl seduced by the devil in disguise as a boy and the impending danger that looms ahead. Lines like "He says baby we’ll leave this life/I’m nothing if you’re not mine/Said, ‘my baby, might burn a little’ but I’ll/Follow him through the ring of fire" show how deep she has gotten herself into and it seems the situation is too far gone.
