Rex & The Rhythm is a Barbados bred Los Angeles based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a rich history of multi-platinum hits with his former band Cover Drive. Rex's artist project falls nothing short of exceptional, proving a true testament to his unparalleled talent and evolution as an artist. Rex's new single “Play My Guitar” is here to prove it.

“Play My Guitar” celebrates the hard times and praises the lessons we learn from people who treat us poorly. "I wanted to make something that sounded like if 'Songs About Jane' era Maroon 5 had a love child with current day Anderson .Paak," Rex says, immediately setting the tone."I wanted the song to be a concert in a bottle. Funky, soulful, live with a big hook." The song tells the story of being in love with someone he could never please. He playfully adds, “I let her play my guitar but she’s playin’ with me.” This sentiment is true for many, and Rex & The Rhythm offers a refreshing take on the matter. While this song deals with themes of love and loss, it is never sorrowful, and Rex never asks for your pity. This track is uplifting and joyful. Living up to his name, the rhythms and syncopations create a beachy, laid back vibe that has listeners grooving. What sets Rex & The Rhythm apart from many artists is the power and relatability of his poetry. With lyrics such as, " I've been making lemonade while dating a lemon / I've been practicing turning the other cheek / Been on my zen, Jay Shetty would hire me," Rex finds humor in the bad times. As the song builds, it feels like you're hearing Rex play live. The key shifts as he sings about his frustrations, creating a surge of energy that keeps the listener dancing and singing with "oh na na na na na."

“Play My Guitar” is a must listen for those healing from a toxic relationship. Rex acknowledges pain but isn’t defined by it. A guitar maestro and dedicated student of music, Rex reinforces the positive impact of having a creative outlet that you love. His former band Cover Drive gained remarkable success with three UK top ten hits and several multi-platinum singles. To add, Rex has opened for Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, Ashanti, and Lauryn Hill to name a few. Listen to "Play My Guitar" and take a minute to remember, it's in you to turn something sour into something delicious and sweet.
