Philadelphia music group Adventure Lost creates a compelling narrative surrounding existentialism on second album Before The Memory Fades, taking us a on a carefully crafted journey framed by authentic melodies and thoughtful song writing.
Built on the connections and tales drawn amid his travels, a narrative of pursuing one’s dreams blossoms at the core. Work on Before the Memory Fades began in March 2023, after the band’s lead vocalist, Jack Faracchio, embarked on a five-month solo backpacking trip across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the United States, with each story and connection through the voyage becoming puzzle pieces for this expansive project.
The album outlines three phases of an existentialist journey. First, the pre-journey, which expresses a yearning for the lived experience; second, the during-journey, which immerses the listener in what that action and experience might be like; third, the post-journey, which acts as a reflection on the memory of the experience. From anticipation to immersion to reflection, the album explores the human condition, encouraging listeners to embrace life while reflecting on the past.
Rooted in a search for meaning, purpose, and belonging, the album moves from examining the fears of aging and risk on “It’ll All Be Over Soon” to moving on from lost romance on “What Might Be” and celebrating the present moment on "Before the Memory Fades,” the album weaves a sense of intimacy with a wide open space for interpretation that allows us to build our own stories within us.
From joyous moments to less-than perfect lows, the human connection and sonic polish of the album amalgamate to craft an innovative listening experience. Formed in 2016 as a project centered on musical storytelling that sways between alt-rock or progressive pop, Adventure Lost continues to showcase their ability to blend a wide range of styles, and experiment with new sounds.
