PARG blends Armenian culture with contemporary sounds in “KANCHUM EM”

Armenian singer-songwriter and musician PARG, a.k.a Pargev Vardanian, is known for his captivating songs that blend an amalgam of genres, along with his Armenian heritage, to deliver something that is uniquely his own. This distinct sound can be heard in his latest single, “KANCHUM EM,” where PARG vulnerably opens up about yearning for a loved one. Trapped in a feeling of solitude, he desperately tries to find a remedy, relying on one person to fill the emptiness. Featuring lyrics in both Armenian and English, he chants, “Kanchum em qez im yar – I’m calling you, my love.” Clinging on to every inch of hope he has left, PARG knows that this person holds the key to all their answers—the only one who can mend what’s broken and make them whole again.

Oozing with emotion, “KANCHUM EM” is an ethereal, cinematic release. Emitting an almost haunting atmosphere, the song features pounding beats that are a juxtaposition to the delicate, twinkling guitars. As the track continues to build with layered instruments and textures, the result is an all-encompassing release that you’ll completely lose yourself in. With sound effects of a phone conversation, PARG mimics the idea of leaving a voice note, filled with the uncertainty of whether it will ever reach its intended recipient. Towards the end of the song, we hear the Armenian national instrument, the duduk, which then leads into an experimental lyrical rap section, creating a fast-paced and dramatic conclusion to the song.

Continuing to bring together Armenian culture with international trends and modern, innovative production, we expect to hear a lot more from PARG.
