Xzibit delivers a new single, “It's been a long time pt. 2” [Video]

The intro to “It's been a long time pt. 2” came in perfectly with the soulful vocals from vocalist Jenn Em. Then Xzibit comes in with a heavy rhyme scheme to let you know that it's giving the perspective that it's been a long time since he was a heavy-hitting lyrical genius.

The lyrics are direct to the point that you aren't on the same level as him for many reasons. The energy was delivered effortlessly, and he blended his style perfectly with the Westcoast style production with heavy drums and synths, keeping it true to his origins. With some well-placed witty lines and a perfect delivery, it allows you to feel the lyrics heavily. Though this might not necessarily be a conscious record, it has some conscious elements in the space of reflection and advancement. He shows his relevancy is still there because he’s a top-tier emcee. A strong first verse, of course!

The chorus in the center of the track gives off the perspective that the song is set to tell the story that he’s been in the game for a very long time, and though he may have other ventures, he’s here. The second verse is just as sharp as the first. He carries his energy well, not losing any momentum lyrically but transitioning well from the chorus to the content of his lyrics. He has punches and real-life lyrics stating what he’s done and achieved. Though it's not a song about boasting, he shows he carries his weight.

Sonically, the record is pleasing. The production is perfect for the style of the track. HUGE ON ENERGY. The lines demonstrate and transfer the energy well; the art is a beautiful blend of production and lyricism. Jenn Em’s vocal range and voice fit the record beautifully in every aspect (Heck of a singer). The music is exciting and refreshing. It's something classic to drop into Xzibit's catalog. Three words of approval CLASSIC, CLASSIC, CLASSIC.

The visuals are beautifully shot, adding depth to the record concept. A great song will always be even better with great visuals. “I started off as a rapping N*gga.” If I can add something, you are a rhymer who needs to be respected in every venture you tend to! Great music!
