Hayley Siano has released her latest folk meets indie pop single "Stranger". The track is the highlight off of her new EP A Little Meaning, a four song collection that is described as a "labor of love recorded in one exhilarating all-nighter".
"Stranger" was inspired by the wild true life story of Hayley Siano having her teenage treasure and memory box stolen by thieves. In the press release she shares, "when I was 15, my family's house got broken into. A lot of really important things were taken, including a certain lockbox that looked like it was holding quite a lot of cash. All my diaries that held my private thoughts from the ages of 5-15 were stolen. Years later, I was thinking about the moment that the thief finally was able to get into that lockbox, how truly disappointing it must have been to be expecting cash and instead find the innermost divulgences of a child/pre-teen/teenager." The memory launched the songwriter into a whirlwind of inspiration as she thought about human connections, missed encounters and the complexities of relationships. The result is a narrative filled with questions, emotions and confessions. Musically, "Strangers" features the artist's signature soaring vocals over delightful guitar picking. A timeless chorus full of heart and soul is the standout, with Hayley Siano drawing comparisons to Taylor Swift and Joni Mitchell. The song blends folk, pop and indie rock for a cathartic listen.
