With that being said, the time-tested emcee has broken his decade-long hiatus with the release of his new song/video "Play This At My Funeral." The reflective song serves as the perfect return to the beginning with Xzibit taking stock of his life account and the struggles he endured that made him a better man. The reflective tune comprises rich guitar arrangement, and choral vocal samples with punchy drum grooves culminating in a solemn canvas where Xzibit details his past, present, and what the future may hold.
The song also comes with a well-crafted visual directed by Alexey Figurov who puts Xzibit in the line of fire, literally speaking. We see the world-weary veteran go from sipping coffee to enduring life-threatening apocalyptic conditions, which speaks to the grind throughout his life, whilst ultimately evading the struggle, escaping into a land of clarity and peace.
