Brooklyn-based, Dallas-hailing Jett Jenkins traces detachment from a relationship on upbeat anthem "What You Want From Me,” leading us into an alluring sonic world built on raw, floating vocals, a slow, seductive musicality and poetic lyricism.
Built on driving synths, easy strums of guitars and layers of mantra-like choral touches, the track is an atmospheric indie-pop anthem laden with emotional weight and pulsating energy, as it mediates on poignant messages while still has us dancing along.
Flitting easily through an array of complex emotions, from subdued anger to honest acceptance, the track looks in on a crumbling relationship with a melancholic yet powerful stance.
Speaking of the track, she says, “I was detaching from a relationship I had for years and seeing it for what it really was.“This song is about getting outside of a relationship and finally seeing it from the outside.”
Marking the first glimpse of her upcoming EP, Tender Love Like a Criminal, the track sets Jenkins up on the cusp of a new sonic chapter that beckons with plenty of possibilities.
