Indie pop band The Aces have plenty of new tricks left up their sleeves, as proven by their latest single, “The Magic,” released Tuesday.

McKenna Petty’s bass guitar is the main star of the mix, forming a bouncy groove that permeates the track. In addition, Alisa Ramirez’s pummeling drums that evoke Phil Collins and the serene sound of the synths altogether make for an incredibly satisfying composition that will have you on your feet instantly.

Cristal Ramirez’s lead vocals remain as alluring as ever and move in perfect harmony with the music. However, it seems as though Katie Henderson’s presence on guitar is sorely underused here, mainly taking a backseat in favor of the synth.

The lyrics of “The Magic” are a simple ode to chemistry, as the narrator waxes poetic about her partner. They believe themselves to be a perfect couple, making everyone else jealous of the relationship they share. The descriptions presented paint a sensual picture that complements the music well.

Overall, “The Magic” is an apt title for the beginning of what the Aces are calling their best era yet, as it will seduce you into wanting more of their musical output.
