Toby Gad, award-winning producer and songwriter, is teaming up with rising star Angelina Jordan for a soulful song unlike anything before. The two are releasing their new original single, "Bad Valentine," this Friday. The single is a thought-provoking ballad that invokes women's empowerment and best showcases Jordan's musical spark.

The single is set to reintroduce the world to Gad's written ability as he pairs up it with Jordan. Even before its release, Gad and Jordan first performed it live at a gig. The performance was live streamed and it took on a life of its own. Just days after, thousands of reaction videos were uploaded to YouTube and reposted on TikTok. Many praised the two and aggressively pushed for the early release of "Bad Valentine," including supermodel and TV host Heidi Klum who gave a passionate reaction to the live performance.

The single comes off the heels of Gad and Jordan's collaboration on the GRAMMY songwriter's new album, Piano Diaries – The Hits. The duo reinvented Beyonce's "If I Were A Boy," allowing Jordan's expressive voice to shine through.

"Bad Valentine" is sure to be an instant classic. The single invokes the early 2000s sounds of Amy Winehouse while also leaving musical hope for Angelina Jordan's eventual rise as society's next great pop star. Toby Gad does his best work with the heartstruck medley and interwoven lyrics that everyone will come to soon learn. A creative music video is set to follow the single in the coming weeks.

When EARMILK sat down with Toby Gad last week, the multi-talented musician talked about the creative process of  "Bad Valentine" and how the two musicians ended up working together.

"Her tone gets compared to Amy Winehouse's, and she's what a presence on stage, like one of these singers. You see them on stage, they're unreal, and it's a real honor. And I asked Universal Republic, her label if they would let me release on my label songs I like with their artists for my project. They were all for it," Toby Gad answered when talking about the origin of linking with Jordan.

"Bad Valentine" releases at a time in the music industry where pop soulful ballads of old are no longer the norm, Gad spoke about wanting to change that in his interview.  Never with the trends of mainstream music, Gad continues that statement with the new single.

"The story of my life with music is that I never look at the landscape, never look at the trends…I seemed to have always defied that," Gad mentions.

Gad is helping chart a path for the next great pop star in Jordan. Over his long career, Gad has written some of the most iconic chart-topping pop hits of the early 2000s. From Beyonce's "If I Were a Boy" to John Legend's "All of Me," Gad has continued to define pop in creative ways, amassing over 18 billion streams across all platforms.

Already a viral sensation at a young age, Angelina Jordan won Norway Got Talent at 7. Since then, Jordan's star has continued to amaze the world with her vocal gifts as she sets her sights on becoming a mainstay in pop culture.

"Bad Valentine" is out now.
