Have you experienced eusexua?
FKA twigs offers us her unique concept of eusexua with her latest release, describing it as a "momentary transcendence often evoked by art, music, sex, and unity, feelings of limitless possibility." It's all about being fully present in the moment while getting lost in time, where sensations and physical beings merge.
Following her collaboration with Two Shell on "Talk To Me" earlier this year, it was evident that a techno influence would shape her forthcoming material. Twigs reveals that the inspiration for "Eusexua" and her new album struck in a rave bathroom in Prague, where the intense techno vibrations resonated with her deeply.
The track starts with a pulsating beat that embodies the essence of eusexua. It transitions into a looping electronic synth, setting the stage for twigs' metaphysical voice. Soothing atmospheric breaks, celestial hums, and texturized strings build up to a captivating climax, reaching a hypnotic and electrifying dance rhythm.
"Eusexua" evokes a similar vibe to "darjeeling" from twigs' 2022 mixtape CAPRISONGS, except with heightened doses of ecstasy. Both songs feature the recurring line "you're not alone," accompanied by melodic yet distant calls. Co-producer Eartheater contributes to these calls on "Eusexua," with Koreless aiding in production.
The music video for "Eusexua" embraces the renowned office siren aesthetic, blending the unsettling imagery of being nude at work with a transformation from cold, dehumanizing fluorescent lighting to euphoric warmth. This visual narrative captures the song's journey from freedom to chaos, reflecting its immersive and transcendent qualities. It also features another song on the album, "Drums of Death," with elaborate, jaw-dropping choreography that solidifies twigs as a legend in her artistic craft.
FKA twigs' third studio album EUSEXUA will be released on January 24, 2025. Stream the lead single "Eusexua" on all DSP's.
