Nigerian Afrobeats/rap icon Olamide continues to dazzle his fans with unbridled consistency. Last year his album Unruly amassed 300 million global streams but the man is not resting on his oars and he recently put out a new EP IKIGAI / 生き甲斐, VOL.1. where he embodies the Japanese concept of purpose by reminding us that indeed he is living according to his purpose.
The 7 track project shows Olamide in his true element as he dives into relatable themes ranging from life, love, and power, and importantly his love and passion for music making. From the introduction "Metaverse" to the soulful "Knockout" with Moroccan Algerian songstress Sabri to the catchy "Hello Habibi" highlighting Olamide's global influence as he employs Arabic elements into his repertoire.
The project also boasts the standout track "Uptown Disco" featuring his proteges Fireboy DML and Asake which is bolstered by a high-octane visual that follows the trio through a series of landscapes and adventures.
