Tony Levin is gearing up to bring it back

Things are about to get very bass-y.

The iconic Tony Levin, bassist extraordinaire, god of session musicians, longtime member of King Crimson, Liquid Tension Experiment, and Peter Gabriel’s chosen bass player, has released the first single off his upcoming solo album, titled Bringing It Down to the Bass.

Working with fellow Peter Gabriel collaborator Manu Katché as well as Dominic Miller and Alex Foster, "Bringing It Down to Bass" is a celebration of the art Tony Levin has dedicated his life to – just really good, interesting, solid bass work.

Often (and unfairly) overlooked in the context of working in a band, the bass work on "Bringing It Down to the Bass" pairs gorgeously with the saxophone and keyboard work instead of competing for air time, and is held up nicely by Manu Katche’s ever-excellent drum work.

Hopefully, more of the same is to come – I can’t wait to hear the rest.
